A demonstrator at Farmworker Advocacy Day, May 12, 2009, Albany

Rural & Migrant Ministry from its very beginning has been committed to accompanying (standing with) rural workers, especially farmworkers as they seek to improve working and living conditions. We live into this commitment through three primary avenues:
  • Nurturing and supporting organizing efforts throughout rural New York
  • Through legislative advocacy, working collaboratively with workers, faith communities, unions and college groups for equality
  • Utilizing litigation, seeking the just and safe treatment of rural workers
Our primary accompaniment efforts in recent years have taken place through the Justice for Farmworkers Campaign. RMM has also been concerned about working conditions in food processing plants and immigration reform.
