Sister Rosalie Carven is a Sister of St. Joseph of Brentwood (New York). During her 60 years of service, she has done varied ministries in teaching, social services, refugee services and congregational leadership. With a keen understanding of civic life and a talent for organizing, Rosalie has been doing justice for exploited and disenfranchised individuals with notable advocacy for recent immigrants. She is actively involved in educating and mobilizing her religious congregation to promote immigration reform and relief. She counts many organizations on Long Island as partners in this effort including Long Island Jobs with Justice, and Rural & Migrant Ministry. She sees her passion for this in the saying: “A people united will never be defeated.”
