Ana Mendez-Vasquez was born in Guatemala and migrated to the United States, accompanying her parents when she was five. Her family settled in New York, and along with her parents, she worked in agriculture for all her adolescent years. In 2022, she earned a BS in Biochemistry from Wells College and is the first in her family to graduate. She was a chemistry tutor throughout college and is now a tutor for Migrant Education. As a result of her Fellowship role with RMM in July 2022, she grew interested in becoming a part of the RMM team.
