RMM has exciting news to share: An extensive story about our Summer Overnight Leadership Camp has been published nationally in USA Today, along with a beautiful video and dozens of photos! Reporter Eduardo Cuevas and photographer/videographer Seth Harrison visited us on our first full day of Camp this year, interviewing many of our children and staff, then met us in Manhattan during our field trip to see “Hamilton” on Broadway. We are so grateful for the sensitive way in which they’ve told our story, and for shining a light on the issue of immigration. We encourage you to share this widely!
RMM's Overnight Leadership Camp has been giving rural, migrant and underserved youth an incredible summer experience for more than 35 years. Campers ages 8-17 spend a week in a tranquil, woodsy environment; they learn to express themselves through music, dance, art and activism, under the guidance of world-class artists in a culturally diverse, immersive experience. For many of these children, it's a rare opportunity to feel safe, and to be heard, loved and accepted. Most of all, it's a chance for these children to simply be children — to laugh, sing, dance and play.
Overnight Camp is so meaningful for so many of our youth that a vast majority of our returning counselors and staff were once RMM campers themselves!
