Yadira Vazquez joined RMM first as a volunteer and then as a member of RMM’s worker steering committee – CASA, on Long Island. Yadira is a leader, activist and lobbyist and Board Secretary of Mujeres sin Fronteras, an initiative of Sepa Mujer and Centro Corazon de Maria. Her experience as a survivor of domestic violence has propelled her to advocate on behalf of Latina Immigrant Rights, Gender Pay Equity, Immigration Reform and Language Access. She says,” I feel happy to be part of RMM because my greatest pleasure is to be able to help other workers and fighters like me and to have the satisfaction of knowing that my children can follow in my footsteps - knowing that we must support those who cannot defend themselves, in any situation. Yadira also works part-time for Local 888.
