RMM’s Youth Arts Group (YAG) had an art exhibition — Our Radical Art — in the lobby of the Newburgh Free Library throughout the month of February 2026. They hosted an opening reception, where members of YAG discussed their work.
Their art pieces speak volumes about the impact of our government’s policies on our children, their families and communities, and about the hopes, journeys, and struggles of immigrants in our country.
Several original art pieces were featured, including:
Broken Bonds – Separation of Families

Freedom of the Voice

YAG’s Mission: The Youth Arts Group (YAG) is a culturally diverse group of high school-age individuals who come together with a determination to create change in our lives and our communities.
As members of YAG, we are committed to educating and empowering ourselves and others, developing and practicing our leadership skills, while acting as allies to each other and to those seeking social justice. Through engagement in creative action, we are dedicated to the task of influencing other youth to join in our mission to create political, economic, and social change.
We use art to express and promote our ideas and feelings. YAG is a unique group of young leaders who are building a space to explore, learn, and take action.
Our radical art pieces highlight the hopes, journeys, struggles, and dreams of immigrants who are being shattered by a racists and oppressive government. We want to create a space for reflection and conversation, while simultaneously building a bridge to connect with our community through art. We hope that our artwork can reflect the challenges that immigrant families face in their pursuit of a better future for their loved ones.
Rural & Migrant Ministry’s youth arts programming is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
