RMM, along with agricultural/food system workers and their allies throughout New York State, are committed to creating systemic change to improve the lives of farmworkers, their families, and rural residents across the State.

Through supporting RMM’s Education, Accompaniment, and Leadership Development Programs, the Administrative Coordinator will contribute to a team effort to implement a shared vision for a more just rural New York. They will collaborate with farmworkers, other RMM staff members, and allies within the faith, labor, academic and activist communities. Working hand-in-hand with the Regional Coordinator and Administrative Director, the position has several primary components.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Administrative Coordinator provides administrative support to the Chief Operating Officer, (COO) which includes logistics for retreats, youth, adult, and women’s empowerment programs and ensures that our Center is a hospitable and welcoming space for all visitors. The 15 hour-a-week position provides a flexible schedule but must be able to work during the day, on site at least 3 days per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide administrative support for RMM through:

  • Fulfilling traditional office support duties such as filing, answering phone calls, photocopying, tracking spending, coordinating vehicle maintenance, inspections, and keeping insurance up to date.
  • Managing the use of the Center, including welcoming participants and guests, preparing the space for meetings, overnight visitors and interns, and providing oversight of food supplies.
  • Supporting staff in planning regional events such as Retreats, Youth Summer Day Program and fundraising events. Keeping Staff lists up to date and distributed.
  • Working closely with COO to coordinate the use, upkeep and renovation of the campus.
  • Updating Board lists, setting up and opening zoom meetings, contacting board members before meetings to encourage attendance, keep lists of who will be attending, and maintaining various google-tracking sheets for board pledges. 
  • Working collaboratively with the Executive Director, as well as multiple Program Coordinators and fulfilling other duties as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15lbs to move cases of copy paper, assist with tents and chairs, move 5-gallon jugs of water to coolers.

The Administrative Coordinator reports to the Chief Operating Officer. 

Position Qualifications:
*Education and Experience

  • A High School diploma or GED with some experience in office support work.

*Skills

  • Basic computer literacy, willing to learn Zoom/virtual conference programs.
  • Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Experience in volunteer recruitment and management or event planning is a plus.

Personal Qualities

  • Self-motivated, able to multitask, and comfortable working through conflict in a multicultural environment.
  • A positive attitude.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s license.

Salary and Benefits:  

This is a part-time position with flexible hours and days. A competitive salary is subject to candidate qualifications and experience. Compensation includes: 2 weeks (30 hours) paid vacation, and paid sick days.
